“Dealing with Depression” | Sunday Message

Released June 12, 2022 by Greg Laurie Podcast

We tend to think of people who do big things as invincible—but everyone is susceptible to trials. Even Elijah, who called fire down from Heaven, faced the burden of depression. Pastor Greg Laurie speaks of what to do when your emotions are in disarray.

Notes

1. If we want to see God work, we must do our part.

Don’t wait for the fire of God to fall on you again.

You need to repair your altar first.

If you have lost the spark, the romance, the love in your marriage, then do loving things again.

God is never asleep at the wheel.

God is never asleep; He is always watching.

“Even atheists have moments of doubt.” —C.S. Lewis

“Social media does not bring happiness, it does not bring fulfillment, and it does not bring

connection.” —Unknown

2. Our job is to pray. God’s job is to answer.

Elijah’s prayer had no screaming, moaning, or hype.

3. God answers prayer the way He wants and when He wants.

Sin will have its pound of flesh!

Elijah was the instrument God used to call down the fire.

But he was also the man who got depressed.

Principles about Dealing with Depression:
Don’t ignore the practical when you are feeling down.
When you are feeling down, you need perspective from God’s Word.

The Lord spoke to Elijah in a still small voice.

Listen for the voice of God in your life.

It is time to leave that cave and find God’s purpose for your life.

God had a plan for Elijah, and He has a plan for you as well!
